Gift Options
Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has been helping donors act upon their charitable interests and passions for more than 25 years. IPCF provides donors flexible, convenient giving options. Please email or call us at 309-662-4477 to discuss how we can help.
Gifts can be made in a number of ways:
Cash
Cash is the most popular way to make a contribution, be it small or large. Donations may be made by check, credit card through our secure online Donation Portal or Electric Funds Transfer (ACH).
Securities
Donors can avoid significant capital gains by making a gift of stocks or bonds that have been held for a time.
Life Insurance
Donors can make a gift of their life insurance policy by donating the value of the policy to the Community Foundation or name IPCF as beneficiary.
Estate Planning
Donors may choose to make gifts in their wills. Those who identify gifts to IPCF in their estate, insurance policy or Donor Advised Fund will become members of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation 1998 Society.
Estate/Farmland
Donors who give real estate or other tangible assets receive a tax deduction and can name a specific fund for a specific purpose.
Qualified Charitable Distribution from IRA
Donors who are 701/2 of age or older can use their Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to make a lasting difference in their community and save on taxes. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are tax-free gifts made directly from your IRA to the charitable organization of your choice (IPCF is a qualified charity). Your IRA can become a powerful charitable giving tool, turning what would be taxable income into tax-free community impact. And, if you are 73 or older, it also counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Download a QCD info sheet
How to Make a QCD from Your IRA
- Contact your IRA administrator to complete a Qualified Charitable Distribution form indicating Illinois Prairie Community Foundation as the charity. If the distribution is for a specific fund, please ask the administrator to include that information on the check. Our QCD Tool makes this step simple by populating the forms you'll provide to your IRA administrator.
- Contact IPCF to confirm what fund your gift should be directed to, or set up time to discuss creating a new fund with your gift.
- Illinois Prairie Community Foundation will issue you an acknowledgement indicating the gift's QCD eligibility.
Our Gift Acceptance Policy is available for review by appointment at the Community Foundation office. Please email us or call our office at 309-662-4477 to arrange a meeting.
