New McLean County Family Treatment Court Topic of Free Forum

BLOOMINGTON, IL – A public forum about McLean County’s new Family Treatment Court for at-risk families will be hosted by the Women to Women Giving Circle Tuesday, April 29, at the Bloomington Public Library in Community Rooms 1&2, 205 E. Olive St., Bloomington. The free forum will begin at 4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

McLean County’s Family Treatment Court is a program for parents, children and families involved in the child welfare court system due to parental substance use as a contributing factor to child abuse or neglect. The purpose of the program is to protect child safety, ensure a permanent care-giving environment and promote children’s well-being through family recovery.

A panel of experts will discuss the innovative new court. Panel members are:

  • Hon. Rebecca Foley, Circuit Judge
  • Hon. J. Brian Goldrick, Associate Circuit Judge
  • Kaitlynn Stigall, Family Treatment Court Coordinator
  • Wendi Ashford, Manager, Therapist Services and Program Development, Addiction Recovery, Mental Health and Medication Assisted Recovery Program—Carle BroMenn Medical Center

Dr. Diane Zosky, retired Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Illinois State University, will moderate the panel discussion. A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion.
