IPCF to Recognize Local Philanthropy with Workshop, Lunch on Nov. 9

Registration Now Open for Nonprofits Workshop & Philanthropy Lunch

BLOOMINGTON — Illinois Prairie Community Foundation will celebrate its 25th anniversary as well as local philanthropy on Thursday, Nov. 9, with a morning workshop for local nonprofits and a lunch to recognize the annual Philanthropists of the Year. The events will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 10 Brickyard Dr., Bloomington.

The morning begins with the nonprofits workshop for staff, board members and volunteers of nonprofits entitled “Preserve & Persevere: Celebrating Our History.” The workshop will take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m., with check-in and breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. Bill Kemp, Librarian for the McLean County Museum of History will speak about preservation and archiving of materials. Julie Emig, Executive Director of the Museum, will moderate a panel discussion with Lori Bultemeier of The Baby Fold, Liz German of YWCA McLean County, Hannah Johnson of Illinois Art Station, Rhonda Massie of Bloomington Public Library and Josh Burnett of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion, with three rounds of table conversation on various nonprofit organization history topics, wrapping up the event.

The Philanthropy Luncheon will honor 2023 Philanthropists of the Year Alan and Kathie Chapman and Tony Jones of Bloomington and Marlon Eilts of Pontiac. IPCF is presenting awards for Bloomington-Normal and Outside the Twin Cities in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston and Logan counties. The celebration will begin at noon and end by 1:30 p.m.

“The Chapmans, Jones and Eilts exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through their involvement in, and support of, numerous community organizations during the years they have lived in our community,” said Greg Meyer, Executive Director of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.

Registration for both the workshop and the luncheon are now open. Cost of the workshop is $30 per person; two people from the same nonprofit organization may attend for the price of one. Cost of the luncheon is $40 per person. A vegetarian meal option is available for lunch attendees.
