Terry Tosh Memorial Scholarship

Terry Tosh, a lifelong Bloomington resident and a graduate of Normal Community High School and ISU, began his teaching career in industrial technology at the Bloomington Area Vocational Center in 1967. Throughout his career, he worked in several key positions in District 87 including cooperative education coordinator, special education instructor and sixth-grade teacher. His formal career concluded where it started, as the Student Services Coordinator of the Bloomington Area Career Center.

In all capacities as an educator and after retirement, Terry was most passionate about all students receiving a quality education and the support services they needed to find some measure of confidence and success. His advocacy for organizations that provide those services was steadfast.

So, in keeping with Terry's passion, the Terry Tosh Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Bloomington District 87, Normal Unit 5, or the Regional Alternative School who has accessed the services of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal.

The scholarship applicant will submit: 1) a brief essay (1 page or less) explaining the value of the support they received from the Boys and Girls Club and their commitment to complete post-secondary education/training (which includes the completion of a certificate program or credentialing program); and 2) a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor or employer. Deadline to submit an application is May 1, 2025. To begin the application, click here.
