4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, via Zoom Dr. Danita Brown Young and Dr. Doris Houston discuss "Renewal and Recovery: The Future After COVID." The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted women and children in unique ways. Drs. Young and Houston discussed what the most important issues are and how we can most effectively help. September 29, 2020 - Women to Women Fall Forum
4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020, via Zoom Dara Williamson, M.S.W., spoke about "Finding Hope in Resilience: Using Resilience as Momentum for Growth and Change." The capacity to bounce back from difficulties, resilience is at the core of overcoming toxic stress and trauma. As a community, we have the power to contribute to the resiliency in families by understanding barriers to positive outcomes and scaling resources that lead to those positive outcomes for children and families. Building on the strengths of children and families will provide a path for growth and change. 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, via Zoom Women to Women Grants Committee members Barb Meek and Diana Hauman, along with IPCF's Michele Evans, held a virtual grant writing information session for nonprofits interested in applying for the giving circle's fall grants. Noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, via Zoom The Women to Women Giving Circle held a virtual Caring Conversation on June 30, 2020, entitled A Conversation About Race. Moderator Karen Major spoke with Linda Foster, president of Bloomington-Normal NAACP, and Doris Houston, Incoming Assistant to the President for Diversity and Inclusion at Illinois State University, about their experiences. 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020, via Zoom The Women to Women Giving Circle held a Caring Conversation about "Schooling During a Pandemic." Dayna Brown and Angie Grubic, both of Unit 5 Schools, shared their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and answered questions from attendees. September 11, 2019 - Women to Women Fall Forum
4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at ISU Alumni Center, 1110 N. Main St., Normal We heard from panelists about “Confronting the Impact of Trauma” on children in the local child welfare system. This helped focus the understanding of the issues and concerns about children exposed to trauma with the hope that grant applications from local agencies might address some of these issues. Main St., Normal We heard how Women to Women funds are working to help women and children in our community and connected with new and old friends who share enthusiasm for Women to Women!
