IPCF Awards 83 Grants to Local Nonprofits

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.  – Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has awarded more than $173,000 in three categories of competitive grants to 83 programs in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston and Logan counties. Grant awards ranged from $400 to $13,870. Funding came from donors to the Community Foundation’s annual campaign, the Jerome Mirza Foundation, and several endowments at the Community Foundation.

Receiving 48 General Grants totaling $83,805 for programs in the fields of education, environment, health and wellness and youth were:

  • Allin Township Fire Department – $1,000 for “Nozzle Replacement”
  • Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association – $681 for “2nd Annual Bloomington Family Caregiver Conference”
  • Back 2 School Alliance – $1,000 for “Creating Writers from Kindergarten Through Graduation”
  • Best Buddies Illinois – $1,175 for “Best Buddies Leadership Program”
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois – $2,000 for “Comprehensive Mentoring Program”
  • B-N Tennis Association – $400” for “Tennis Buddies at Evergreen”
  • Boy Scouts of America, W.D. Boyce Council – $800 for “2023 Outdoor Adventure Camp”
  • Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal – $3,500 for “STEAM Powered Play”
  • Clinton Community Educational Foundation – $1,500 for “Read Across Clinton”
  • Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois – $4,000 for “CAPCIL Transit”
  • Community Connections Group of Central Illinois – $1,200 for “Team Connection”
  • Community Health Care Clinic – $2,000 for “Furnish the Future”
  • Corpus Christi Catholic School – $500 for “Outdoor Education Classroom”
  • Dax Locke Foundation – $700 for “Camp Hope Adolescent Young Adult Retreat”
  • DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department – $1,422 for “School Dental Sealant Program”
  • Dreams Are Possible – $3,000 for “DAP Collaboration with Moms at Heartland Head Start and Milestones Early Learning Center”
  • Easterseals Central Illinois – $1,750 for “Timber Pointe Outdoor Center Challenge Ropes Course”
  • Encore Developmental Services – $1,000 for “Communication and Community Access”
  • Eugene Field School – $1,000 for “Music Garden Completion”
  • Eureka College – $2,000 for “Color Us Hopeful: Eureka College Coloring Book Program”
  • Eversight – $1,200 for “Sight-Saving Recovery Supplies for McLean and Livingston Counties”
  • Everyone’s Collective – $1,500 for “The Collective Food Forest”

  • Girl Scouts of Central Illinois – $2,200 for “Camper Caravan – Building Accessibility to Girl Scouts Camp Experiences”
  • Girls in the Game – $1,500 for “Bloomington After School”
  • Girls on the Run of Central Illinois – $1,500 for “Power Up With Girls on the Run”
  • Great Plains Life Foundation – $3,000 for “Stay 4 Project”
  • Heartland Community College – $1,250 for “Returning Hawks”
  • Homes of Hope – $1,993 for “Heart Healthy Heroes Program”
  • Lincoln Pastoral Counseling Services – $3,000 for “Subsidy Program”

  • Vespasian Warner Public Library – $1,500 for “Wonderbook: A Read-Along Experience for Young Readers”
  • Village of New Holland – $500” for “Keep New Holland Clean”
  • Weldon Springs Foundation – $1,500 for “Welcome to the Prairie: An Intro to the Natural World Through Observation & Experience”
  • Woodland CUSD 5 – $1,500 for “Woodland Mentoring Program”
  • YWCA McLean County – $1,914 for “Special Needs Program”

Receiving 33 Arts and Culture Grants totaling $71,692 were:

  • Bachs Choir – $500 for “25th Anniversary Weekend Celebration & Alumni Concert”
  • BCAI Cultural Arts & Humanities – $3,024 for “Hip Hop Elemental Arts: Session 6” Funded by the David and Kay Williams Music Education Fund

  • Bloomington-Normal YMCA – $1,000 for “Teen Scene”
  • Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County – $1,600 for “Lyricism 101”

  • Regional Alternative School – $3,009 for “Digital Art Education Program at RAS”
  • Share the Music – $1,750 for “Instrument Lending Program”
  • Sound of Illinois – SFPEBQA – $1,800 for “Central Illinois Youth in Harmony (YIH)”
  • Threshold to Hope – $2,000 for “Art Instruction and Exploration for Low-Income Artists”

Receiving 2 Sol Shulman Jewish Life and Education Grants totaling $17,870 were:

  • Illinois Symphony Orchestra Inc. – $4,000 for “Orchestra Around the Town Free Concert Series”
  • Moses Montefiore Temple – $13,840 for “Building a Sacred Community Through Music”

Along with $50,000 awarded by the Foundation’s Women to Women Giving Circle and $8,105 from the Foundation’s Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) cohort, IPCF has awarded more than $231,472 in competitive grants in fiscal year 2023.
