Each November, Illinois Prairie Community Foundation celebrates local philanthropy with a Nonprofits Workshop and Philanthropy Celebration to honor our Philanthropists of the Year. The 2021 event was held in person Nov. 18 at the Holiday Inn Bloomington-Normal in Normal. View photos from the day's events.

These two events highlight IPCF's commitment to local philanthropy. The events kick off with a Nonprofits Workshop in the morning. The noontime Philanthropy Celebration event follows the workshop and honors the Philanthropists of the Year. In 2020, IPCF began awarding two Philanthropist(s) of the Year awards - one for Bloomington-Normal and another for outside the Twin Cities (other parts of McLean County, plus DeWitt, Livingston or Logan counties).

The topic of the 2021 IPCF Nonprofit Workshop was "Digital Communications Strategies for Nonprofit Organizations." Panelists discussed how nonprofits can use digital strategies to improve their communication with their constituents. Beth Whisman of the Children’s Discovery Museum, moderated the discussion with panelists Ben Mitzelfelt of PIP Printing, Ashlee Sang of Ashlee Sang Consulting and Brian Huonker of State Farm. A question and answer session followed the panel discussion, with the workshop concluding with two rounds of table discussions on various communication topics.

The 2021 Philanthropy Luncheon celebrated philanthropy in our community and honored the 2021 Philanthropists of the Year - Hank and Mary Campbell of Normal and Dale Maley of Fairbury (view their bios here). We also recognized in person the 2020 winners - Arthur and Camille Taylor of Bloomington and Susan Hoblit of Atlanta (view their bios here).
