IPCF to Recognize Local Philanthropy with Workshop, Luncheon on Nov. 17

Registration Now Open for Nonprofits Workshop & Philanthropy Celebration

BLOOMINGTON — Illinois Prairie Community Foundation will celebrate National Philanthropy Week on Nov. 17 with a morning workshop for local nonprofits and a luncheon to recognize the annual Philanthropists of the Year. The events will take place at a new location – the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel 10 Brickyard Dr., Bloomington.

The morning begins with the nonprofits workshop for staff, board members and volunteers of nonprofits entitled “Communicate, Collaborate, Connect: Invest in Building a Better Organization.” The workshop will take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m., with check-in and breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. Panelists include Holly Ambuehl of Forefront, Eddie Breitweiser of pt.fwd, Jerome Maddox of State Farm, and Victoria Padilla with the Regional Office of Education #17; Del Saam of McLean County’s Veterans Treatment Court will moderate. A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion, with two rounds of table conversation on various communication topics wrapping up the event.

The Philanthropy Luncheon will honor 2022 Philanthropists of the Year Janice (Jan) Meadows of Bloomington and Kevin Jones of Mackinaw. This is the second year that IPCF is presenting two awards – one for Bloomington-Normal and one for Outside the Twin Cities in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston and Logan counties. The celebration will begin at noon and last until about 1 p.m.

“Meadows and Jones exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through their involvement in, and support of, numerous community organizations during the years they have lived in our community,” said Greg Meyer, Executive Director of Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.

Registration for both the workshop and the luncheon are now open. Cost of the workshop is $30 per person; two people from the same nonprofit organization may attend for the price of one. Cost of the luncheon is $40 per person. A vegetarian meal option is available for lunch attendees.
