Gift Options

Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has been helping donors act upon their charitable interests and passions for 25 years. IPCF provides donors flexible, convenient giving options. Please email or call us at 309-662-4477 to discuss how we can help. More information on what to give can be found on our Planned Giving site.

Gifts can be made in a number of ways:

Cash

Cash is the most popular way to make a contribution, be it small or large. Donations may be made by check, credit card through our secure online Donation Portal or Electric Funds Transfer (ACH).

Securities

Donors can avoid significant capital gains by making a gift of stocks or bonds that have been held for a time.

Life Insurance

Donors can make a gift of their life insurance policy by donating the value of the policy to the Community Foundation or name IPCF as beneficiary.

Estate Planning

Donors may choose to make gifts in their wills. Those who identify gifts to IPCF in their estate, insurance policy or Donor Advised Fund will become members of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation Legacy Society.

Estate/Farmland

Donors who give real estate or other tangible assets receive a tax deduction and can name a specific fund for a specific purpose.

Required Minimum Distribution from IRA

Donors can reduce their taxable income by donating their required minimum distribution (RMD) to a qualified charity? This option only applies to IRA owners after they are 72, does not apply to distributions from employer plans and only applies to direct transfers to qualified charities (NOT private grant-making foundations, donor advised funds or charitable gift annuities). Because IPCF is a public charitable foundations, it is eligible to receive RMD donations into any endowment, fiscal sponsorship or field of interest fund. Contact your financial planner for details on how to take advantage of this opportunity. Rules on IRA distribution were updated in December 2019; please read about changes in SECURE Act.

Our Gift Acceptance Policy is available for review by appointment at the Community Foundation office. Please email us or call our office at 309-662-4477 to arrange a meeting.
