Women to Women Fall Forum – Sept. 29, 2020

September 29, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm CDT

“Finding Hope in Resilience: Using Resilience as Momentum for Growth and Change” will be the topic of the Women to Women Giving Circle’s virtual Fall Forum.

Dara Williamson

Dara Williamson, M.S.W., will lead the discussion on resilience. The capacity to bounce back from difficulties, resilience is at the core of overcoming toxic stress and trauma. As a community, we have the power to contribute to the resiliency in families by understanding barriers to positive outcomes and scaling resources that lead to those positive outcomes for children and families. Building on the strengths of children and families will provide a path for growth and change. This presentation will explore the sources of resilience for families and the impacts resiliency has on each of us. Together we will discuss, reflect and brainstorm how communities can use momentum from resiliency to generate responsive and effective support to struggling families so both families and the communities can thrive.

Williamson is Training Manager at the Ounce of Prevention. For the past six years, she has worked with a team of training and technical assistance professionals to support, guide, coach and train home visiting professionals in Illinois, specializing in supporting Healthy Families America programs. Dara is a certified HFA trainer for Foundations for Family Support and Parent Survey core trainings. She has been immersed in the HFA model since 1999, starting as a Family Support Specialist, then supervisor. Dara was lured into home visiting after working at a hospital on the mother-baby unit and witnessing the loving, curious, joyful and even awkward connections between parents and their babies after birth.
