Rotarians support humanitarian projects in our own communities and in communities around the globe. Rotary was founded in 1905, and the first clubs in our District were chartered in 1915. More than 100 years later, over 1700 Rotarians in 46 club in 20 counties in East Central Illinois continue to “do good” with our service to others. Our causes include providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; helping mothers and children; protecting the environment; fighting disease, building communities; supporting education; and promoting peace. The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and is the foundation for our relationships with one other and the actions we take in the world.

The purpose of the District 6490 Rotary Foundation Fund is to receive gifts, bequests, and donations of money and property in support of the charitable objects and aims of Rotary District 6490 to fund local and larger Rotary projects. Contributions will fill the gap between projects of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and projects that are too costly for clubs without their own foundations to fund on their own. The account will allow Rotarians to respond to disasters in a timely manner. No one knows when a tornado, flood, or fire will impact our communities, but when disaster strikes, our district will be prepared to assist. This account offers Rotarians the opportunity to make bequests for projects of interest to Rotarians in District 6490.

The District 6490 Rotary Foundation Fund provides an additional option for giving as Rotarians model our motto of “Service Above Self.”
